The stunning UR-100V diamond-covered Urwerk

Urwerk, started by Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner, is known for its cool designs and new ways to show time. They first made a splash with the Urwerk UR-100 SpaceTime in 2019. This watch had a special feature that showed how far the Earth moved in space and its own spin in kilometers.

For the Geneva Watch Days event, Urwerk, with its smart thinking and skill, has made another great watch: The recently presented UR-100V Stardust is covered in diamonds and mixes their special design with good workmanship, making it stand out among fancy watches.

The UR-100V Stardust is similar to other models in the series, offering space enthusiasts a distinct perspective on Earth's voyage through the cosmos.

Aesthetics

Over time, they've made the UR-100 and UR-100V using materials like titanium and carbon. But they have now decided to make the UR-100V Stardust shine with 400 diamonds, making it look like a starry night.

This new watch isn't too big or too small. It's 41mm wide, 49.7mm long, and 14mm thick. The main part is covered in 400 bright diamonds. Under the clear crystal sphere, there are 36 diamonds embedded in the minute scale, with an additional 24 gracing the watch's crown. The steel pin buckle boasts 22 more diamonds. These gems are of VVS1 quality, Color D-certified, amounting to almost 1.90 carats of pure carbon. The watch has a blue strap that matches the blue time markers.

Felix Baumgartner, the master watchmaker and co-founder of Urwerk, expressed in a statement: “We wanted a setting reminiscent of the starry heavens, with nothing at all uniform, more like ordered chaos. It wasn’t so much the size of the stones that was important to us as their arrangement, this almost random design".

Under the clear top cover, the watch has three rotating parts that show the hours and minutes on a curved track. These are marked with blue and white colors. When the time reaches 60 minutes, it goes back to zero and shows how far the Earth has moved in 20 minutes (amazing, right?). The minute track also has 36 bright diamonds.

Movement

This machine works because the Urwerk’s selfwinding UR 12.02 movement powers the watch at a frequency of 28,800 vph with a power reserve of 48 hours.

Availability & price

As with any other Urwerk watch, this will be a very limited run. They'll only make 10 of these watches every year, and each one costs roughly €100,000. We guess this is the price to pay to take your wrist game to the space and beyond.
