The Riviera Tideograph: Baume & Mercier nautical-themed model
Baume & Mercier, a brand nearly two centuries old, is sailing into 2024 with a significant new addition to their most beloved collection. Marking the 50th anniversary of the Riviera in 2023, the brand continues to pay homage to its legacy by introducing the Riviera Tideograph, also known as the Maréographe. This marks the first of several complications to debut, celebrating the diverse facets of the French Riviera. The Tideograph, with its nautical flair, is set to make waves soon at the Watches & Wonders Geneva fair.
Aesthetics
The Riviera Tideograph stands out with its 43 mm case, larger than the standard Riviera sizes, and distinct with its black ADLC-treated bezel screws. This design choice sets it apart from its siblings, the standard Riviera and the Riviera Azur, with the latter featuring a blue sunray dial as opposed to a colored crystal dial. The tide graph disc, located at 6 o'clock, is a mechanical marvel, elegantly displaying the tide cycles with a minimal yet functional design. The azuraged indicator disc and quadrants beautifully encapsulate the essence of the French Riviera, making it not only a functional tool for tracking tides but also reflects the region's luxurious and nautical lifestyle.
Movement
At the heart of the Riviera Tideograph is a variant of Baume & Mercier's acclaimed Baumatic movement. This adaptation retains the impressive 120-hour power reserve and 100 meters of water resistance, despite the addition of the tide graph complication. The watch comes equipped with a new woven-effect rubber integrated strap, enhancing its nautical theme. The strap's quick-change system allows for easy swapping with a bracelet or leather strap, offering versatility and convenience for the wearer.
Availability & Pricing
The Riviera Tideograph is a limited edition release with only 500 pieces available. It is available for purchase through Baume & Mercier retailers and the price is set at €5,525.
