The Reservoir X Popeye Cricket - Limited Edition

Reservoir has merged the whimsical world of cartoons with sophisticated watchmaking in their latest creation, the Reservoir X Popeye Cricket Limited Edition.

Inspired by India and timed to celebrate the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup, this watch brings together the brand's signature retrograde minutes and jumping hours with the iconic Popeye character. This limited-edition timepiece joins the ranks of other Popeye-themed watches released by various brands, including Reservoir’s previous creations such as the x LabelNoir x Popeye Watch and the Bamford London Popeye GMT Limited Edition.

Aesthetics

The 41.5mm stainless steel case of the Reservoir X Popeye Cricket shows a brushed finish with subtle polished edges, a flat screw-down crown, and a water resistance of 50 meters. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, which features a painted Popeye character wielding a cricket bat and pointing to the retrograde minutes with his animated left arm.

A cricket field backdrop, oversized white Arabic numerals for minutes, and a large jumping hour window at 6 o’clock complete the playful yet sophisticated dial. The watch is presented on a 20mm black leather strap adorned with black stitching and a stitched Indian flag near the top right lug, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle.

A special exhibition caseback showcases a colour print of Popeye with a cricket theme, and each of the 100 limited-edition pieces is individually numbered.

Movement

The calibre RSV-240 ticks inside this Reservoir model, based on the La Joux-Perret G100 base and enhanced by a 113-piece patented/proprietary module from Telos Watch to operate the retrograde minutes and jumping hours.

This automatic movement comprises 44 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800vph (4Hz), and provides a 56-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through the exhibition caseback, where the rotor decorated with Côtes de Genève and the brand’s logo can be admired.

Limited to just 100 pieces, the Reservoir X Popeye Cricket is available for purchase and comes packaged in a custom white wooden box featuring the entire Popeye Family in colour.
