The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black ETNZ Edition

The Legacy of the America's Cup & Omega's Involvement

The America’s Cup, dating back to 1851, stands as the oldest competition in sailing and is viewed as one of the most prestigious globally.. It's a contest between two teams: the defending team (previous winner) and a challenging team determined by the Challenger Selection Series. The 37th edition of the America’s Cup is scheduled for September to October 2024, off the Spanish coast, with Barcelona as the main port.
Omega has been associated with the America’s Cup since 1995, partnering with the Emirate Team New Zealand (ETNZ) and serving as the official timing partner for multiple editions. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black ETNZ Edition (reference 215.92.46.51.01.003) is a culmination of previous Seamaster editions dedicated to the America’s Cup.

Aesthetics

The watch boasts a matte black ceramic case, measuring 45.5mm in diameter. The pushers, crown, bezel, and other components are also crafted from scratch-resistant material.
The exterior is accentuated by a white 60-minute scale on the bezel insert and turquoise-coloured rings around the chronograph pushers. The matte black ceramic dial is enhanced with turquoise highlights, including the 12 o'clock numeral and the minute scale. The central chronograph seconds hand features a unique white-to-turquoise gradient effect.

The watch is complemented by a turquoise and black structured rubber strap and a black ceramic folding clasp.

Movement

At the heart of the watch lies Omega’s in-house Calibre 9900, tailored for the Regatta timing function. This METAS-certified Master Chronometer movement is an automatic chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Operating at 28,800vph, it incorporates a co-axial escapement with silicon balance and hairspring, ensuring a power reserve of 60 hours. The movement's aesthetics, though hidden, are adorned with Arabesque Geneva Stripes.
