"Endless summer": New Richard Mille’s RM07-01 Color Ceramic Capsule Collection

In 2021, Richard Mille introduced the world to the RM 07-01 Colored Ceramic watches, following the slimmed-down watches tailored for women and the vibrant Bonbon collection from roughly half a decade prior. The brand, renowned for its fusion of materials, technology, and craftsmanship, now releases the ‘Endless Summer’ capsule collection as part of the RM 07-01 line. The three-watch series, rich in color and innovative design, encapsulates the essence of the 1980’s Memphis design movement.

Aesthetics

Italian designer Ettore Sottsass’ Memphis Design movement inspired a global shift in design perspectives in the 1980s. Embracing asymmetry, unique geometric patterns, and vibrant color combinations, Sottsass’ influence is unmistakably mirrored here. The collection comes with boldly colored rubber straps, further emphasizing the watch's playful design inspired by the Memphis movement.

The Memphis Design Group, named after a Bob Dylan song, transformed not just interior and fashion design but has now found its mark in horology. Richard Mille's 'Endless Summer' collection celebrates this design aesthetic, combining ceramics with patterned rubber and reinventing traditional guilloché dials to create modern masterpieces.

Movement

The RM 07-01 Colored Ceramic watches are powered by the automatic CRMA2 in-house-made caliber. This intricate, skeletonized movement not only displays hours and minutes but boasts the innovative OneWay ceramic winding system with ball bearings. Tailoring to the user’s activity, its variable-geometry rotor adapts the rewinding of the mainspring, ensuring up to 50 hours of power reserve. The colorful rotor is visible through a transparent sapphire opening on the case back, showcasing Richard Mille's attention to both aesthetic detail and functionality.
