The low key watch that Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikeç wore at the Paris Olympics

A viral sensation

Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikeç became an internet sensation after photos of his relaxed pose while competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics went viral. Dikeç, who won a silver medal in the mixed team 10-meter air pistol event with Sevval Ilayda Tarhan, was wearing a watch that seem to perfectly reflect his own personality.

This Is The Watch Yusuf Dikeç Was Wearing At The Paris Olympics

Dikeç, 51, is a seasoned athlete with a history of Olympic participation since 2008 and multiple championship titles, including double world champion in 2014 and a recent European championship win in 2024.

A low key model for a low key personality

He was wearing a Nacar watch, a 46mm military green diving watch that runs on quartz and that is valued at approximately $40 His choice of the Nacar watch probably has a lot to do with their reputation for reliability. Although it includes a day/date indicator the watch stands in contrast to the high-stakes environment of the Olympics.

Nacar

Nacar is a watch brand with a deep-rooted history in the Turkish market, established in 1921 by Turkish-Armenian brothers Ohannes and Kevork Nacaroglu. The brothers founded the Zila Watch Company, producing their first Nacar watch that same year.

Nacar watches became a beloved brand in Turkey, known for their affordable reliable mechanical watches. They emerged during an era when customers sought quality products from brands like Movado, Buren, and Delma. The brand’s reputation is encapsulated in a popular Turkish saying: “Saat alacaksan Nacar’dan, hatun alacaksan Macardan,” meaning, “If you’re buying a watch, it should be a Nacar; if you’re getting married, it should be to a Magyar.”

This is why Nacar watches are noted for their historical significance and cultural value, remaining a symbol of reliability and tradition in Turkish society.

I cannot think of another brand that would suit Dikeç better. Great choice and congrats to him for the silver medal!
