MB&F unveils the Legacy Machine Flying T Onyx

Who does not know MB&F these days? Standing for Max Büsser and Friends, this independent brand has been celebrated for its innovative and complex timepieces. In 2019, the brand made a significant shift by launching their first women's watch, the Legacy Machine Flying T, encapsulating all the hallmark attributes of MB&F's creativity but with a feminine twist. This move broadened the brand's market but also showcased their adaptability and willingness to embrace a wider enthusiasts audience. Now, in 2024, MB&F presents a new iteration of the Legacy Machine Flying T, this time designed to appeal to both men and women, featuring a sleek black onyx dial plate and an 18k yellow gold case, distinctively devoid of diamonds.

Aesthetics

The latest Legacy Machine Flying T iteration represents a sophisticated, unisex approach, eschewing the previous models' diamond embellishments for a sleeker, more subdued design. The watch features a 38.5mm polished 18k yellow gold case, paired with a high-domed sapphire crystal that elegantly showcases the underlying dial. The black onyx dial plate serves as a dramatic backdrop to the gold-encased, inclined hours and minutes disc, offering a striking contrast that enhances the watch's visual appeal. The absence of diamonds and the inclusion of a guilloché dial plate in previous versions underline a commitment to a design that is unisex and elegant. The Legacy Machine's iconic elements, such as the flying tourbillon with its signature double-arched bridge and diamond-set top, are complemented by gold crafting in various components, including the serpentine hour and minute hands and the ventricular aperture frame, maintaining the line's luxurious and dynamic aesthetic.

Movement

The mechanical heart of the Legacy Machine Flying T Onyx Edition is a marvel of engineering, demonstrating MB&F's dedication to pushing the boundaries of watchmaking. The watch is powered by an in-house developed 3D vertical architecture movement, featuring an automatic winding system.

The central flying tourbillon, a signature of the LM series, performs a 60-second rotation, supported by a complex mechanism that includes a robust four-day power reserve. This impressive longevity in power reserve is among the highest within their collection. The movement's design incorporates elements from other MB&F series, like the HM6 and HM7 Aquapod. The sun-shaped rotor on the reverse, sculpted in gold, adds a visually captivating element.

The MB&F LM Flying T Onyx Edition is available with a luxurious black alligator (or calfskin) leather strap, featuring a yellow gold pin buckle, embodying the watch's refined and elegant design.

Availability & Pricing

Priced at €120,000 (excluding taxes), this watch represents a significant horological artistry. Potential buyers can seek more information or make a purchase through MB&F's official website, indicating their move towards embracing both traditional retail and digital platforms. This omnichannel approach ensures that aficionados around the globe have access to MB&F's innovative designs, regardless of their location.
