HYT releases the Conical Tourbillon Panda
Known for its unique approach to time presentation using fluid mechanics and bold color schemes, HYT introduces this latest iteration as a sophisticated black-and-white limited edition. The Conical Tourbillon Panda joins the lineup of previous models like the black with green animation and the vibrant, multi-colored Infinity Sapphires.
Aesthetics
The watch boasts a not-for-everyone 48mm titanium case coated in white ceramica nd this finish extends to the titanium side grilles and frame. The crown however, features a black DLC titanium insert. The dial, protected by an ultra-domed sapphire crystal with AR treatment, showcases a white agate chapter ring adorned with three-dimensional, black-coated indices treated with Super-LumiNova.
HYT's signature retrograde hour indication is presented through a display of black and white liquids. The minutes are marked by a matte black pointer hand enhanced with white Super-LumiNova.
It does not really seem that reading the time will be an easy task and probably I would need some time to get used to it.
The watch comes with a white rubber strap, secured by a black DLC titanium buckle.
Movement
At the heart of this beast lies the manually wound calibre 701-TC, comprising 533 intricate components. This movement was developed in collaboration with master watchmaker Eric Coudray offers a 40-hour power reserve. The central feature is the conical tourbillon, which completes a full rotation every 30 seconds.
Availability & Pricing
This is what is most striking to me. There are many independent watchmakers with elevated price tags but the Conical Tourbillon Panda that goes for €366,000.
Yes, it is a limited edition watch and sure, there are only eight pieces available but the competition of indies and independents is fierce. HYT may know what they are doing but I am really looking forward to see how this plays out.
