Everything about the new (and mysterious) Patek Philippe Cubitus collection
Maybe you have already heard word of this on the street. There is a new sporty entry level stainless steel piece coming from the most prestigious brand in the world.
The hype around a new Patek Philippe collection in 2024
Patek Philippe has hinted at a major release on October 17th, 2024, potentially introducing a new watch line called "Cubitus." This would be the brand's first new line since 1999, following CEO Thierry Stern's 2023 comments about launching a watch that appeals to a broader audience, particularly those looking for a sporty and modern timepiece within the €30,000 to €40,000 range.
Decoding the Cubitus Trademark
The anticipation largely stems from a trademark for “Cubitus” that Patek Philippe secured a few years ago. The trademark mentions “chronograph,” sparking speculation that the new watch might feature this complication. However, it’s important to note that trademarks alone don’t confirm product details, as Patek has registered other names like “Celestial” without immediate releases.
Rumors suggest that the Cubitus could be a more affordable sports watch, a category where Patek’s current offerings, like the Aquanaut and Nautilus, have become prohibitively expensive due to high demand.
The Munich Event: Unveiling the Mystery
On October 17th Patek Philippe is hosting a private event in Munich ( which I am sadly not invited to attend) where the Cubitus is expected to be revealed. While the details are tightly guarded, speculation ranges from it being a dive watch to featuring a tonneau case, reminiscent of Richard Mille’s designs. These rumors are fueled by insider comments and the watch community’s eagerness to see a fresh, modern design from Patek.
Patents and Potential Features
Recent patents filed by Patek Philippe provide clues about the Cubitus’s potential features. One patent describes a multi-stage heat treatment for creating durable gold alloys, which could be used in the new line. Image from Patent CH 720 208 A2 is shown below
Another patent details a multifaceted bezel with hour markers, possibly simplifying the dial manufacturing process and enhancing the watch’s durability. Images from the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) belonging to Patek Philippe are shown below to.
Market Implications: A Strategic Move?
The launch of the Cubitus comes at a time when the luxury watch market is cooling, yet demand for high-end sports watches remains strong all over the world.
By introducing a more accessible line, Patek Philippe could attract younger collectors and compete more effectively with brands like Audemars Piguet. This strategy might help Patek fill a gap in its lineup, offering a modern, desirable watch without the usual ultra-high price tag.
Awaiting the big exciting reveal
As the October 17 event approaches, all eyes are on Patek Philippe to see if the Cubitus will live up to the hype. Whether it turns out to be a dive watch, a chronograph, or something entirely unexpected, the release is poised to make a significant impact on the luxury watch market.
Stay tuned for more updates from myself at NERBEZEL as the big day approaches!

It’s a straight rip-off of the Maen Manhattan (Which is a homage / modern take of the VC Chronometer royale), isn’t as nice looking and costs 40X the Manhattan. PP, you are total Jokers!
