New MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase: Snoopy's Lunar Legacy
Two years following the success of the original MoonSwatch release, Swatch has unveiled its latest collaboration with Omega: The MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase.
This one pays homage to the partnership between the two brands and their historical connections to space exploration. The watch celebrates the character of Snoopy, NASA's beloved "watchdog," featured prominently on the piece.
Aesthetics
The MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase adopts an all-white color scheme, inspired by the luminous full moon, with Snoopy charmingly placed on the moonphase indicator at 2 o'clock. The watch is adorned with a white Velcro strap, and features black hands against the white dial for stark contrast. Super-LumiNova on the central hands enhances visibility in low light, while the bioceramic bezel includes a signature detail with the dot over 90, echoing the design of Omega's Speedmaster. The overall aesthetics of the watch, from its materials to the strap and dial design, encapsulate a clear homage to space exploration history.
However, its weight and feel on hands, like some of its predecessors, quickly tell the owner that this is still just a beautifully designed Swatch affordable watch that tries to mirror some of Omega's Speedmaster vibes.
Movement
This new Mission to the Moonphase is not just a visually appealing piece; it houses a moonphase function that accurately represents the lunar cycle, taking approximately 29.5 days to complete a full rotation on the special sub-dial. We feel this is the best thing they have done with this latest release: combining Swatch's playful design approach with real functionality and sophistication.
Availability & Pricing
Priced at €315, the MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase positions itself as a very afforadable piece of the Omega and Swatch collaboration legacy. This model, like its predecessors, is exclusively available in Swatch boutiques, keeping that personal engagement in the purchase experience. The policy of one watch per customer per day underscores the collectible nature of this newest edition and queues are already been seen around the world.
