The limited Alpine x Moser Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon

H. Moser & Cie. has recently intensified its presence in the motorsport arena through a partnership with Alpine Motorsports, previously known as Renault in Formula 1. This collaboration is celebrated through the introduction of the Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Alpine.

Aesthetics

The design of the Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton is heavily inspired by the aerodynamic forms of high-speed trains from the Streamliner Moderne period of the 1920s-1930s. The watch features a cushion-shaped stainless steel case, measuring 42.3mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, enhanced to 14mm with the inclusion of a domed sapphire crystal which also adds to its water resistance of up to 120 meters. The aesthetic is completed by a radial-brushed bezel with mirror-polished bevels and a narrow cavity running along the case side that contrasts with its brushed finish. The dial is an openworked display of anthracite bridges with a translucent, blue synthetic spinel sub-dial at noon that reflects the Alpine partnership through its color and provides excellent legibility with Super-LumiNova coated indices and Globolight inserts.

Movement

The in-house, fully skeletonized HMC 811 manufacture calibre pumps inside. This movement is notable for its one-minute flying tourbillon located at 6 o'clock, equipped with a cylindrical hairspring traditionally used in marine chronometers, enhancing the watch's isochronism. The cylindrical hairspring is hand-shaped and takes significantly more time to produce than traditional hairsprings. The movement provides a substantial power reserve of 74 hours and the skeletonization of the movement allows for a fascinating view of the workings, accessible from both sides of the watch through sapphire crystal.
