The Longines Legend Diver now comes in 39mm
In November 2023, Longines introduces a refreshed version of its long-standing vintage effect dive watch, the Legend Diver, with notable changes in its design and features. This is not a surprise, we have previously discussed Longines' recent shift towards a more imaginative approach, experimenting with gradient dials and a variety of materials. Let´s now take a brief look at this modern iteration of the brand's mid-century diver, that aims to fill the gap between the rather large 42mm version and the feminine 36mm references.
AestheticsThe 2023 Longines Legend Diver features a new 39mm steel case, 12.7mm thick and 47mm lug to lug, reflecting current tastes in watch sizes.
It offers enhanced wearability and a choice of black or blue lacquer dials. The watch maintains a vintage charm while adapting to modern aesthetics. The design includes a closed steel case back, two crowns for time setting and bezel control, and is water-resistant up to 300 meters.
It comes with different strap options, including a steel bracelet, a blue nylon NATO-style strap, or a vintage-style brown leather strap.
MovementThe watch is powered by the Longines L888.6, an automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve, featuring a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour and being COSC certified. The Legend Diver is also compliant with the ISO 6425 standard for dive watches, underscoring its real functional prowess alongside its stylish design.
Availability & PricingThe Longines Legend Diver is already available and the pricing starts at $3,000 (approximately €2,800) for the versions with a strap, and $3,200 (approximately €3,000) for the steel bracelet version. This pricing positions the Legend Diver as a premium offering in the Longines collection, and competing with some of the entry level models from brands like Omega or Tudor.
