Seiko 5 Sports SSK027K1 -Limited Edition inspired by the skateboarder Yuto Horigome

Seiko has released a new special edition watch in collaboration with Japanese professional skateboarder Yuto Horigome.

Yuto Horigome is a 23 year old Japanese professional skateboarder that won the gold medal in the inaugural Olympic men's street event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, becoming the first person ever to win a gold medal in skateboarding at the Olympics. Not bad, right?

The Seiko 5 Sports Style GMT, a limited edition model, is a testament to the brand's ongoing commitment to innovation and partnership with prominent athletes like Yuto. Aesthetics

The watch's aesthetics feature a 'stealthy' theme, with a 42.5mm wide and 13.6mm tall case that is coated entirely in black, enhancing its urban appeal.

The bidirectional rotating bezel boasts a striking metallic blue-and-violet insert with a 24-hour scale, set above a black dial. The dial itself is complemented by large applied indices and hands that are treated with LumiBright for visibility in the dark, including a distinctive red-lacquered triangular GMT hand. A date window at 3 o'clock, magnified by a cyclops on the Hardlex crystal, adds functionality. This design is finished with a matching black coated five-link steel bracelet that features a secure locking system.

Movement

At the heart of the Seiko 5 Sports Style GMT is the in-house Seiko calibre 4R34. This 'Office' GMT movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (vph) and offers a power reserve of 41 hours. Although the movement has minimal finishing, it is adorned with Yuto Horigome's signature on the inside of the crystal of the Hardlex caseback, adding a personal touch to the timepiece.
