Omega expands the Dark Side of the Moon line with 4 updated Speedmasters and new movements

 Introduction

Over a decade after its debut, Omega revives its ceramic icon with four new versions: Dark Red, Dark White, Dark Dark, and Grey Side of the Moon, now featuring Master Chronometer movements and thinner cases. It’s a return to the dark side with some fresh technical features.

Design & aesthetics

The lineup retains its signature 44.25 mm zirconium ceramic case and Liquidmetal tachymeter, balancing polished and matte textures that work well.

Each variant plays its own tone: the Dark-Red adds a sporty feel.

Dark-Dark dives into pure minimalism and a stealthy look

Dark-White focuses on colour contrast

And Grey Side honours Jim Lovell’s “essentially grey” moon.

All come on integrated rubber or textile straps with ceramic/titanium clasps.

Movement

All four models now feature Master Chronometer-certified movements, a major upgrade for the collection but with different tweaks:

  • Dark-Red: powered by the hand-wound Calibre 9908, with twin barrels, 60 h reserve, and column-wheel chronograph. Its black-coated bridges give it a modern look at the back
  • Dark-White / Dark-Dark: use the automatic Calibre 9900, with Co-Axial escapement, 60 h reserve, vertical clutch, and anti-magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss
  • Grey Side: fitted with the Calibre 3869, a hand-wound evolution of the Moonwatch movement, METAS-certified and engraved with a lunar-surface motif that makes it my favourite

Pricing & availability

None of these are limited; they will be available from Omega boutiques and authorised retailers (ADs) as part of the regular 2025 line

  • Dark-Red: CHF 12 500 / EUR 15 800
  • Dark-White: CHF 12 200 / EUR 15 400
  • Dark-Dark: CHF 12 500 / EUR 15 800
  • Grey Side of the Moon: CHF 12 800 / EUR 16 200

Nerbezel's verdict

This update feels like a thoughtful evolution for the collection, one that balances heritage with technical innovation. The Dark-Red stands out as the boldest and most dynamic piece, while the Grey Side preserves the poetic link between Omega’s legacy and the moon itself. In photos, it’s arguably the most evocative of the four, its dial textured like a fragment of lunar surface and subtly revealing part of the movement’s architecture and bridges through the lower left side of the dial
