Kollokium Projekt 02 FFF&F Edition (Friends, Family, Fools & Flippers)
Intro
Kollokium, the experimental collective founded in 2020 by Manuel Emch, Barth Nussbaumer, and Amr Sindi (The Horophile), announced a completely different creation. Projekt 02 swaps the pixelated/geometrical precision of Projekt 01's dial for a sculptural topographical dial built from stacked plates inside a slimmer monobloc case. The first batch (FFF&F) is limited to just 199 pieces and offered initially to existing Kollokium owners.
Design and Aesthetics
Projekt 02 stays faithful to Kollokium’s neubrutalist aesthetic. The case is made from die-cast steel (a single visible block with no bezel or caseback) and features integrated triangular lugs, a valve-style crown, and the inscription “K,P–n°02” raised on the side of the bezel. It measures a versatile 39.5 mm in diameter and 12.4 mm thick, including the tall sapphire.... The result is compact yet striking because of the dial texture.
The dial trades the pixels seen in Projekt 01 for contours. Built from 67 individual plates arranged across nine layers, it creates a flowing, map-like relief visible through the crystal.
Each plate is hand-painted and infused with green Super-LumiNova, while the sandblasted warm-silver edges catch the light beautifully. Twelve embedded hour markers blend into the topography of the dial, while warm-silver hands with luminous Lichtblock inserts and a fluorescent-orange seconds hand add fun and balance to the mix.
Movement and Mechanics
Inside ticks the La Joux-Perret G101 automatic calibre with a 68-hour power reserve. It’s left unbranded and hidden, reinforcing Kollokium’s philosophy of focusing on architecture and material rather than decoration. On the back, there’s a playful engraved message that apparently comes with a sense of humor :)
Pricing and Availability
The Projekt 02 FFF&F Edition is now limited to 199 pieces at CHF 3,333.33 (excluding VAT). A public version is planned for Q1 2026 at CHF 3,666.66.
Nerbezel’s Verdict
Kollokium remains one of the most refreshing design collectives in modern independent watchmaking for anyone looking for something genuinely interesting under the 5k mark. Projekt 02 feels raw like its predecessors and deeply intentional (a statement on form and texture rather than luxury). The layered dial looks stunning even in photos, and the die-cast case proves that experimentation can still thrive within Swiss watchmaking. It’s a piece that will definitely split opinions, but that’s exactly what makes it worth paying attention to. There are plenty of compelling options in this price range, but this one would easily make my top five this quarter, even if not the outright winner.
