New variations of the AP Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked in steel, black ceramic, and yellow gold
The brand's revival of openworked movements in the 1970s marked a significant milestone for Audemars Piguet, leading to a dedicated workshop and a series of highly intricate timepieces that we have seen during recent years. The brand now releases new variations of the Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked in steel, black ceramic, and yellow gold.
Aesthetics
Each 41mm case features an integrated bracelet, measuring 9.9mm in thickness and offering a water resistance of 50 meters.
The steel and ceramic models boast rose-tone calibers, while the yellow gold version contrasts with a dark gray caliber. The openworked design focuses on highlighting the movement as expected, with the watch itself serving as a display case. The attention to detail includes color-matched screws in the bezel for the ceramic and steel versions, creating a cohesive and visually striking look.
Movement
All are powered by the self-winding caliber 3132, known for its dual balance wheels with hairsprings. This innovative mechanism enhances accuracy by mounting the balance wheels on a shared axis. The movement offers a power reserve of 45 hours. The skeletonized rotor and the meticulously polished V-shaped angles make this piece shine.
