The New Anatom: Rado Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the '80s relic.
Rado has been a pioneering force in using ceramic in their distinctively shaped watches. The Anatom, an iconic piece from the '80s, marks its return in 2023. It's a homage to its original version from 1983 but with a modern twist that aligns with Rado's contemporary design principles.
Aesthetics
The 2023 model sports a curved rectangular case and a convex sapphire crystal, maintaining the unique aesthetic of the original. However, it now features a larger case size, growing from a 28mm to a 32.5mm width. The bezel is made of matte black ceramic, and the design includes a cylindrically shaped sapphire crystal. Unlike the original model, which had a horizontal striping on the dial and a bracelet, the new Anatom features a rubber strap and a horizontally brushed dial with a smoked effect, available in three colors: blue, cognac, and green.
The dial also showcases the signature Rado anchor at 12 o'clock, a new addition compared to the 1983 version. Aside from the standard three models, Rado has also introduced a 40-piece limited edition Jubilé model, featuring a black lacquered polished dial, 11 baguette diamonds as indexes, and a rhodium-colored moving anchor motif.
Movement
The 2023 Anatom departs from its predecessor's quartz caliber, featuring an automatic movement, the Rado calibre R766. This movement includes a date aperture at six o'clock and boasts a 72-hour power reserve.
The case construction combines matte ceramic, black PVD steel, and a steel exhibition case back, which reveals the sophisticated mechanics of the automatic movement within.
Availability & Pricing
The new Anatom is priced at €3,350 and is available for immediate purchase.
