Louis Ferla takes over CEO role at Cartier from Cyrille Vigneron
Richemont Group has announced another significant leadership change. Just a few weeks after appointing Nicolas Bos as the new CEO of the Richemont Group, replacing Jérôme Lambert, the luxury conglomerate has named a new CEO for Cartier. From 1st of September Louis Ferla, former CEO of Vacheron Constantin, will take over from Cyrille Vigneron as the Chief Executive Officer of Cartier.
Cyrille Vigneron's retirement and legacy
Cyrille Vigneron is retiring after eight successful years as CEO of Cartier. Under his leadership, Cartier became the second-largest Swiss watch brand, with an estimated turnover of CHF 3.1 billion and 660,000 units sold in 2023, according to Morgan Stanley. As an enthusiast, I have witnessed first hand how many friends and acquitances have started to consider Cartier again as a first watch, same as in the brands' good old days.
Vigneron will now serve as the Chairman of Cartier Culture & Philanthropy and will assist Ferla with the transition.
Louis Ferla's Background and New Role
Louis Ferla joined Richemont in 2001, starting at Alfred Dunhill before moving to Cartier in 2006. He became the CEO of Vacheron Constantin in 2017, which Morgan Stanley reports is now the eighth largest Swiss watch brand, with an estimated turnover of over CHF 1 billion.
On the other hand, it has not yet been announced who will succeed Ferla as CEO of Vacheron Constantin.
