Longines HydroConquest: Now with GMT function

Longines HydroConquest collection was first introduced in 2007 and quickly became a fan favorite for its modern approach to dive watches, it contrasts with the retro style of the Legend Diver, also released in 2007. Over the years, the HydroConquest line has seen numerous color variations, including two-tone models with gold PVD elements. The latest addition that was announced and launched in August 2023, introduces a GMT functionality, enhancing its versatility for a global lifestyle.

We did not have the chance to discuss it back then and we thought it was well worth our time!

Aesthetics

The HydroConquest GMT features a robust 41mm wide stainless steel case, primarily brushed for a tool watch aesthetic, with a contrasting polished rotating diving bezel. The bezel has a polished ceramic insert that matches the dial color, offering blue or black options with a white diving scale and green or brown with a beige scale.

The redesigned crown guards, now smoother and curved, blend seamlessly with the caseband and polished screw-down crown. The dial comes in four colors (blue, green, black, brown), each with a sunray-brushed finish, applied markers with Super-LumiNova, and a printed minute track. The date wheel design varies by dial color too.

The HydroConquest GMT is available with different strap options: a NATO-style strap for green or brown dials, a black rubber strap for the black dial, or a stainless steel bracelet for the blue dial.

The bracelet, also available for all models, incorporates a quick-adjust system for added comfort.

Movement
The HydroConquest GMT is powered by the automatic caliber L844.5, a movement exclusive to Longines and similar to that used in the Spirit Zulu Time. The key feature of this movement is its true GMT functionality, allowing for the local hour hand to be independently adjusted via the crown. This in-house unit is hidden under a solid caseback adorned with a globe image, the Longines name, and the winged hourglass logo.

The movement operates at 25,200vph and boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve.

Availability & Pricing
Priced at €2,950 on the NATO-style strap and €3,100 on the black rubber strap or steel bracelet, the watch offers good value. However, the separate fabric strap is priced at €195. Despite minor criticisms from our side, the HydroConquest GMT presents itself as an excellent overall package, particularly appealing to those seeking a robust and versatile traveler's GMT watch.
