Jean-Charles de Castelbajac & M.A.D.Editions(MB&F) launch the new M.A.D. 1 'Time to Love'

M.A.D.EDITIONS & Jean-Charles: M.A.D.1 ‘TIME TO LOVE’ WATCH

MB&F's and its M.A.D.Editions have welcomed the renowned French fashion designer and artist, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, to craft the M.A.D.1 ‘Time to Love’ watch. This is the first time M.A.D.Editions has partnered with an external creative for its watch designs. This collaboration embodies Castelbajac's artistic essence, showcased through the designer's handwritten numerals on the hour and minute rings of the M.A.D.1 watch.

Originally, the MB&F Horological Machine was considered for collaboration with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. However, the dynamic and artistic potential of M.A.D.Editions became the chosen platform. Following the initiation of their partnership, Castelbajac introduced a colored blade pinwheel to the M.A.D.1 ‘Time to Love’ watch, incorporating red to signify passion, blue for hope, and yellow for human warmth. This trio of colors enhances the watch's rotor, which is finished in lacquer, with one blade intentionally weighted to facilitate smooth rotation.

Aesthetics and functions

The M.A.D.1 watch displays its minutes with a striking white-over-black contrast, while the hours are set against a vivid green background, a hue dear to Castelbajac reflecting his childhood memories. The crown is adorned with an engraving of an angel conversing with the moon, echoing a motif prevalent in Castelbajac's art. The watch strap, made of leather akin to materials used by MB&F, features the watch's name, ‘Time to Love,’ and comes with two options: one black and one white.

Included in the watch's design is a French quote from Jean-Charles de Castelbajac on the dial's base, stating: ‘This rare and precious treasure is your life. Time flies with its white wings. You are the guardian of your time.’ The name ‘Time of Love’ reflect Castelbajac's philosophy of spreading love, peace, and spirituality through his artistic work.

Moreover, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac shared, "My relationship with time is unique. I am often ‘before or after hours’: before in my vision, after in my satisfaction. But when it’s time to love, I am always on time."

Availability and deliveries

Half of the production will be reserved for Tribe Members and brand suppliers on a first-come, first-served basis. The remaining half will be available to all watch enthusiasts around the world via a raffle to ensure everyone has a chance of getting one.
