IWC Big Pilot G63 (2 new models)
IWC introduced last week a new model in two variants of the Pilot series, it is named the Big Pilot G63 an it is inspired by the powerful Mercedes-AMG G63 amg.
This released was done in collaboration with Mercedes and its AMG sub-brand (including the Formula 1 team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1).

Aesthetics
These watches are based on the famous Big Pilot model, boasting an impressive 46.5mm diameter. The standout feature of these new releases is the materials used:- The ref IW501201 features an 18k Armor Gold case, an alloy more robust than standard gold, and is styled after the recent Mercedes-AMG G63 Grand Edition.
- The IW506201 model showcases a Ceramic Matrix Composite case developed in partnership with the German Aerospace Center. This composite incorporates carbon fibres instead of polymers, offering good resilience and heat resistance. This variant also uses Ceratanium for the crown and caseback ring.

Both versions come with a black rubber strap and a folding clasp, either in Armor Gold or Ceratanium. Likewise, watch dials for both models are designed similarly, with a small seconds indicator, a 7-day power reserve display and a date window but differ in color. The design draws inspiration from the G63's air intakes, with two versions of Super-LumiNova detailing.
Movement
Inside, the watch uses IWC’s in-house IW52010 automatic movement, familiar from the Portugieser collection, offering a 7-day power reserve and the efficient Pellaton winding system. The movement's back showcases a Mercedes emblem, reminiscent of the G-wagon's spare wheel cover. Its case showcases unique features for protection from magnetic forces and air pressure drops.

Variants, Price & availability
The Armor Gold model retails for €37,200 and the Ceramic Matrix Composite for €49,700, which surprisingly is way more expensive than its gold counterpart. While they aren't strictly limited edition, they're available in limited quantities. However, if you already own a G63, we cannot think of a better watch to match it, and their price tag should not be a problem either.
