Introducing the New 1887 Chronographs by Eberhard & Co.

Another release that we missed during Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 was from Eberhard & Co. that showcased two new chronographs at the event, enhancing their prestigious "1887" collection. Established in 1887, the Swiss brand has a rich history characterised by innovation and distinctive design. Their "1887" collection, which began in 2019, is a tribute to the foundation year.

Aesthetics

The new "Chronographe 1887" models are a nod to Eberhard & Co.'s historical chronographs, drawing design inspiration from artifacts preserved at their museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée (Ref. 31081)

This limited edition, hand-wound mechanical chronograph emphasises a vintage aesthetic, evident in its steel case with esinuous lines that hark back to designs from the early 20th century. The dial is adorned with a spiral tachymeter scale centered within, which is typical of traditional chronographs used in aviation and automotive contexts. The telemetric scale surrounding the dial adds an additional layer of historical charm. The crown of this model is worth mentioning as it is crafted in steel and features a coaxial pusher personalized with the letter "E," which is both a nod to the brand's logo and a mark of its bespoke craftsmanship.

Chronographe 1887 Automatique (Ref. 31082)

The "Chronographe 1887 Automatique" features an automatic, self-winding mechanical movement, distinguishing it from its manually wound counterpart. This model carries a similar aesthetic to the Édition Limitée but stands out through its use of personalised decorative elements. The Automatique's dial showcases an integration of color and finish that offers a slightly more contemporary feel than its brother. The oscillating weight visible through the caseback is decorated with "Côtes de Genève" and "colimaçon papier" finishes, adding a sophisticated touch. Engravings of the caliber designation and the shield, in 4N gold color, elevate the overall aesthetic.

Movement

Both new models, the "Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée" and the "Chronographe 1887 Automatique," are powered by calibers EB 280 and EB 380, respectively, developed in partnership with Manufacture AMT. These movements are equipped with advanced features like a column wheel and the fly-back complication.

Availability & Pricing

The "Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée" is limited to 250 pieces and priced at €7080, highlighting its exclusivity, while the "Chronographe 1887 Automatique" offers a broader availability  and is priced at €6000.
