Andersen Genève Jumping Hours Black Jade Stone: Deep dark elegance

Svend Andersen has been a prominent figure in the independent scene since 1980. He has earned it by his own right for his inventive approach to complications such as calendar watches and world timers.

His craftsmanship and originality have significantly influenced the luxury watch industry during recent years, including the bespoke Jumping Hours complication, which gained even more recognition when Cartier adopted it for their Pasha Jour et Nuit.

Later on, when celebrating his 40th anniversary in 2020, Andersen introduced a platinum Jumping Hours model with a blue guilloché dial, setting a high standard for next designs. This latest model I write about today continues his tradition of innovation with a striking black jade stone dial (my favourite highlight of this model).

Aesthetics

The Andersen Genève Jumping Hours Black Jade Stone is an elegant watch. No one can argue this after looking at the 38mm platinum case. The watch features a sleek, minimalist black jade dial. The large date aperture at noon, with a white background, contrasts with the black jade, while a pink gold hand (powdered rose gold) rmark the small minutes sub-dial at 6 o’clock.

The case’s curving lugs are mirror-polished to contrast with the satin-brushed flanks, and the pink gold crown adds a subtle touch of warmth to the dark and deep black dial.

The watch is presented on a hand-stitched black suede strap with a platinum buckle.

Movement

This model features the automatic Frédéric Piguet 11.50 calibre which integrates Andersen Genève’s proprietary jumping hours module. The movement has a power reserve of 72 hours.

The hand-finished details include Côtes de Genève decoration, mirror-polished screw heads, and chamfering. The 18k pink gold rotor with a hand-guilloché barleycorn pattern and the 21k BlueGold ring visible through the caseback are a beauty to look at.

Availability & Pricing

The Andersen Genève Jumping Hours Black Jade Stone is a limited edition of just 50 pieces. It is priced at CHF 52,800, which is approximately €54,500.
