Andersen Genève Celestial Voyager “Sunset over Cappadocia” - Version 2

Andersen Genève is a prestigious name in independent "haute horlogerie", most likely known by many because of their adherence to traditional watchmaking techniques, and a business strategy focused on creating bespoke timepieces in collaboration with passionate collectors. Their latest release is the Celestial Voyager “Sunset over Cappadocia” Version 2, a continuation of a series born from a creative partnership with Benjamin Chee Haute Horlogerie (BCHH), an associatiation founded by Singaporean collector Benjamin Chee in 2019. 

Aesthetics

The Celestial Voyager “Sunset over Cappadocia” Version 2 is a visual masterpiece if you ask me. It obviously draws inspiration from the picturesque hot-air balloon flights over Turkey’s Cappadocia.

The dial is crafted in cloisonné enamel and represents a sunset scene over the Kizilirmak river and rocky canyons. The "city ring" is made from aventurine glass with Cappadocia highlighted in pink gold. 

The 37.7mm case is primarily made of platinum, featuring a pink gold bezel that mirrors the sunset hues. Below you can see the comparison of version 1 (left) and 2 ( right ).

Although the dial is stunning, the lugs known as ‘eagle wings’ are truly remarkable. It's rare to find lugs of this quality and uniqueness. Each lug is meticulously hand-made and soldered to the case.

Movement

At the heart of the Celestial Voyager version 2 is an automatic-winding vintage AS 1876 calibre, enhanced with an Andersen Genève world time module, that achieves 40 hours of power reserve. From the caseback you can see a 21k Bluegold rotor and hand-made finishings.

Availability & Pricing

As you would expect, this is a limited edition, and only 20 pieces will be available. Each watch offers a degree of customisation for dial elements, making it a real unique collector's item. Priced at £54,500 (approximately €63,500) it offers a solid alternative for collectors that want to stay way from enamel dials by the most well-known brands, like Patek Philippe.
