Zenith Chronomaster Sport - now with a blue dial

Introduction

Zenith has been expanding its renowned Chronomaster line since its original presentation at the 1994 Basel watch fair. The Zenith Chronomaster Sport was unveiled in 2021 and since then, it has emerged as one of the brand's most successful watches. It carries a modern, sporty chronograph design and is clearly inspired by the vintage El Primero watches. Initially, it came with a black or white dial with tricolour counters and a polished ceramic bezel.

Aesthetics

The 2023 version of the Zenith Chronomaster Sport introduced a polished steel bezel, coupled now with a unique metallic blue dial, a style which was also present in the previously launched Chronomaster Sport Pink, that supported breast cancer awareness.

The Zenith Chronomaster Sport's evolution from ceramic to steel bezel was always a part of the brand's strategy. This shift to a steel bezel offers a fresh perspective to the watch, while still retaining the characteristic 41mm steel case with alternating brushed and polished surfaces.

These changes bring back vibes from the 1980s and 1990s, presenting a vintage charm to the watch. With its engraved and black-filled 1/10th of a second scale, the bezel complements the watch's overall design. To further accentuate its uniqueness, the new blue dial is paired with the steel bezel, a nod to the DeLuca and Rainbow designs.

The dial still retains the brand's signature tricolour sub-counters in grey, anthracite, and blue, which is reminiscent of the A386 El Primero. The date disc, designed to match the dial, enhances its sporty aesthetics.

Movement

Residing beneath the sapphire back is the caliber El Primero 3600 which is an evolution of the original 1969 engine with modern mechancial enhancements. Among its standout features is the ability to display 10ths of a second, demonstrated by a central second hand that completes a circle in 10 seconds. Further enhancements include an extended power reserve of 60 hours and the integration of a stop-seconds mechanism.

The 2023 collection also introduces a revamped decoration, showcasing a new star-shaped oscillating weight that can be seen through the transparent sapphire case back. The new watch is set on a classic 3-link steel bracelet with a folding clasp as previous versions.

Availability & Price

Now available as a permanent addition to the Chronomaster collection, it is priced at €11,300.
