The new Ollech & Wajs M-52B AF
Ollech & Wajs (OW), based in Zurich since 1956, has a storied history of producing robust tool watches like pilot watches, divers, and chronographs, using solid Swiss components. Founded by Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs, the brand gained notable attention during the Vietnam War era, particularly with the US military. In 2017, Charles Le Menestrel took over, continuing the tradition with a focus on mechanical, instrument-focused watches. The new M-52B AF watch pays homage to the 1966 custom-made timepiece for US airmen and celebrates the 70th anniversary of the B-52 bomber, reflecting the brand's enduring military connections.
Aesthetics
The M-52B AF is a tribute to the 1966 B-905 model, featuring a PVD-coated bezel reflecting the B-52's nose cone and a robust 39.5mm steel case. It maintains the watch's original military essence with a 300m water-resistant structure, screw-down crown, caseback, and a domed sapphire crystal. The dial showcases the B-52 bomber silhouette, cream-colored Super-LumiNova on hands and markers, and a date window shifted from 3 to 6 o'clock. The watch's aesthetics are a blend of historical homage and modern functionality, capturing the spirit of the original while ensuring contemporary standards.
Movement
Powering the M-52B AF is the Soprod automatic calibre P024, a reliable Swiss movement known for its precision, comparable to the ETA 2824 or SW200. It beats at 28,800vph, provides a 38-hour power reserve, and features a bespoke OW Zurich 1956 rotor. This movement choice reflects Ollech & Wajs's commitment to quality and tradition.
Availability & Pricing
