The new Parmigiani Tonda PF Hijri Perpetual Calendar Unveiled

Parmigiani Fleurier recently introduced the latest iteration to the Tonda PF collection, known for its exploration of complex calendar complications, which pays homage to the cultural and historical importance of various calendar systems.

This includes the Chinese Xiali, the Western Gregorian, and the Islamic Hijri calendars. This Hijri perpetual calendar watch, which was first introduced in 2019, makes a remarkable return in 2023 within the Tonda PF case, featuring new refined dial designs.

Aesthetics

The design of the new reference boasts a meticulous attention to detail, with a polished and satin-finished steel case of 42mm diameter and an 11.2mm thickness, highlighted by a knurled platinum bezel. It features a viridian green dial with Grain d’Orge hand-guilloché, 18ct gold rhodium-plated skeleton delta-shaped hands, and applied indices, offering a pleasing visual experience. The dial is further enhanced by the presence of three subdials for calendar indications in Arabic calligraphy and a moon-phase indicator with a blue aventurine disc at 6 o’clock, underlining the watch's cultural reverence. The watch is completed with a polished and satin-finished stainless steel bracelet

Movement

At the heart of the Tonda PF Hijri Perpetual Calendar lies the PF009 calibre, an in-house automatic perpetual calendar movement, providing a 48-hour power reserve. Comprised of 310 components, it displays exquisite craftsmanship through a transparent sapphire case-back, revealing Côtes de Genève decorations, bevelled bridges, and a skeletonised platinum rotor adorned with the PF logo.
