Lunar Renaissance in Watchmaking: Code41 Unveils the Moon Inception

Code41, established in 2016 by Claudio d’Amore, stands out in the watchmaking industry for its bold styling and unique community involvement. The brand is known for incorporating feedback from watch enthusiasts into its design process, fostering a sense of community rarely seen in the industry. The latest addition to their lineup is the Moon Inception, which offers a fresh take on the traditional moonphase feature, combining functionality with a distinct moon(ish) themed design.

Aesthetics

The Moon Inception watch boasts a stainless steel cushion-shaped case, measuring 41.5mm in diameter and 11.2mm in height, with a 24mm wide lug width. It features a convex anti-reflective sapphire crystal and an exhibition caseback showcasing a modified Sellita automatic movement. The watch presents a striking bezel with a brushed face and polished outer rim, complemented by a boldly knurled signed crown. It offers water resistance up to 100 metres. The watch is available with multiple strap options, including a steel bracelet and black or tan perforated leather straps, all featuring quick-release levers. The dial is available in black, blue, and tan colors, each presenting a large moonphase display at 8 o'clock, a smaller date display at 1:30, and a vintage rocket-tipped seconds hand, all set against a textured lunar surface-inspired background.

Movement

At the heart of the Code41 Moon Inception is the C41-MP calibre, based on the Sellita SW288 (Elaboré). This automatic movement is equipped with 26 jewels and operates at a frequency of 28,800vph (4Hz), offering a 41-hour power reserve. The watch features central hours, minutes, hacking seconds, moonphase, and date functions. The standard movement is adjusted in three positions, achieving an accuracy of +/-7 seconds per day. For those desiring enhanced precision, there's an optional COSC-certified upgrade available, which improves accuracy to -4/+6 seconds per day. The movement is adorned with perlage and a custom rocket/space theme engraved on the rotor.

Availability & Pricing

The Code41 Moon Inception is available for preorders from January 25th to February 23rd, 2024, aligning with the first full moon of the year and covering a complete lunar cycle. The watch is priced at EUR 3,275 (including taxes). For customers interested in the COSC certification, an additional EUR 316 is required. The watches are expected to be delivered in September 2024. Customers can place their orders online through the official Code41 website.
