F.P. Journe´s "Élégante Gino’s Dream": Legacy of Friendship

F.P. Journe, a renowned independent watchmaker, has launched a new watch called the Élégante Gino’s Dream, as a tribute to François-Paul Journe's late friend and early supporter, Gino Cukrowicz. This special edition marks the 10th anniversary of the Élégante model and honors Cukrowicz's vibrant personality with its unique "rainbow" design.

Known for his close relationship with Journe and significant contribution as a shareholder since the brand's inception, Gino's spirit is aimed to be immortalised in this release.

Aesthetics

The Élégante Gino’s Dream features a large 48 mm case adorned with 52 baguette-cut synthetic gemstones made of glass-ceramic, arranged in a captivating rainbow pattern around the bezel. This choice of material pays homage to Cukrowicz's "colorful" personality.

The watch is equipped with a durable and sporty rubber strap that includes a folding clasp, enhancing both the comfort and the casual vibe of the watch. Buyers can choose between a luminous dial paired with a natural titanium case or a black dial complemented by a scratch-resistant Titalyt coating. The latter gives the case a sleek dark grey finish, adding to the watch's quite vibrant aesthetic. It is a very risky look but the overall configuration seems to work well.

Movement

The Élégante Gino’s Dream is powered by F.P. Journe’s in-house cal. 1210 quartz movement. This caliber includes a unique feature where a built-in sensor detects when the watch is stationary for 35 minutes and switches it to standby mode, conserving battery life. The battery itself can last for 18 years in standby mode and at least eight years in active timekeeping mode, making it both an efficient and reliable choice for everyday wear.

Availability & Pricing

The watch is priced at €33,000 before taxes, offering a relatively accessible entry point into this brand, given the average price point and exclusivity.
